Maritza Cosano Gomez, Editor-in-Chief
Maritza Cosano Gomez teaches the Journalism class that produces The Messenger, Calvary Christian Academy’s high school news magazine, both print and online. Before working with Calvary Christian Academy in 2007, she was the senior writer/editor for Calvary Chapel Fort Lauderdale, where she wrote for Calvary Community, the church’s monthly publication, as well as various printed and online materials. In the past, she was the writer and managing editor of a number of monthly national publications, including Talent Times Magazine, an arts and entertainment magazine based in Miami Beach, Florida.Maritza also teaches Creative Writing classes after school, on a one-on-one basis, encouraging young people to be better writers. She is also working on a non fiction book entitled, Strictly Journalism, a how-to-book about starting and running a Christian high school newspaper. I’ve been on four missions trips, volunteer at Golden Acres, and have a passion for loving on the lost. My name is Jessie Gushue and I am a junior at CCA. I serve as a writer and Copy Editor for The Messenger, covering the local, national and international news, as well as CCA’s Discipleship news. Writing has always been a great outlet for me, as it helps bring order to chaos and is a great way to talk to God. Writing is a complete blessing, and I’m so thankful God has given me this gift. My name is Alex Gomez and I am a junior at CCA. I’ve been the Managing Editor of The Messenger for two years, and writing and music are my passions.
