Maritza Cosano Gomez, Editor-in-Chief

Maritza Cosano Gomez teaches the Newspaper Publishing class, which produces both school papers, The CCA Weekly and The Messenger. Before working with Calvary Christian Academy in 2007, she was a writer/editor for Calvary Chapel Fort Lauderdale, where she wrote for Calvary Community, the church’s monthly publication. In the past, she was the writer and managing editor of a number of monthly publications, including Talent Times Magazine, an arts and entertainment magazine in Miami Beach, Florida.

Danielle Germaine, Managing Editor

Danielle is a senior and it is her second year writing for the CCA Weekly. She writes for the news and student life section. Danielle’s future plans include going to college and majoring in communications.

 
 
 
 

 

Joe Rogers, Copy Editor

 

 

Joe Rogers is a staff writer for the CCA Weekly and The Messenger and also has had his articles published in the Calvary Community, a monthly church publication. Every voice needs to be heard, and stories have the power to do that. As a staff writer, Joe hopes to find those voices.

Rebecca Urrutia, Student Life Editor

Rebecca Urrutia is a senior in her third year at CCA. In the newspaper, she covers the spiritual aspect of CCA student life. In the future, she would like to major in Physician Assistant at Nova Southeastern University.

Eric Brown, Student Writer

DSC_0126Eric Brown is a junior at CCA, and has been here for six years. He is sports writer for the CCA Weekly, and enjoys incorporating his love for sports with writing, as one day he hopes to become involved with sports commentary. He is also interested in business and in his spare time he hangs out with friends and likes to go to church.

Kaley Israels, Student Writer

DSC_01067 Kaley Marie Israels is a sophomore at CCA, and has been attending for two years. She loves to act, read, hang out with friends and go to church. She also loves psychology and hopes to pursue a career in that in the future. Kaley really likes writing about fine arts and student profiles, and she is a student life writer for the CCA Messenger.

Michie Alvaro, Student Writer

DSC_0111Michie Alvaro is a junior at CCA. She is an avid reader, and a compulsive writer. Her favorite pass time is walking on the beach and watching movies. She believes that writing takes passion and tells a story; it brings people to life and entertains them as they are informed of places and brought into the world of the author’s mind.

Moriah Smith, Student Writer

DSC_0089Moriah is currently a sophomore at Calvary Christian Academy. This will be her fourth year attending CCA. She enjoys meeting new people, drawing, dancing, singing, playing guitar, and just spending quality time with her family and friends. She loves to write to express her feelings! :)

Avery Reeder, Photo Editor

DSC_0107Avery Reeder is a freshman in her tenth year at CCA, and taking on the role of photo editor for The CCA Weekly. Writing has always been a passion of Avery’s and photography is her form of art. She is an avid varsity cheerleader, and involved in the Fine Arts department at CCA. Avery looks forward to working in the medical field, specifically as a flight doctor.
