For the past few weeks, the sophomore class has been holding weekly Bible studies on Fridays, during both lunches. Started by a few of the guys in the 10th grade, it was inspired by the class trip to keep the spiritual momentum going. As part of unifying our class spiritually, a few sophomores organized an outreach so that our class could spread God’s message out into the community.
As a result, last Friday May 15, the sophomore class journeyed to Margate Health Center to spend some time with the elderly. The goal of this outreach was to spread the love of God to people who don’t get to experience it very often. To do this, each of the women were given a rose in honor of Mother’s Day and everyone was given a note of encouragement with a Bible verse in it.
The sophomores then broke into small groups of two or three and visited with the people. It was so amazing to see how grateful these men and women were, just to have someone that wanted to spend time with them and, that cared about them. We were able to pray with them and sing songs of worship as well; most of them were so appreciative of this.
Upon returning to school, the sophomores shared a class lunch and enjoyed a brief time of worship. Afterwards, we talked about our experiences at the convalescent home. It was great to see how each of us had had such a wonderful experience and enjoyed our time with the people there just as much as they enjoyed having us.
It is such a blessing to spread the joy of the Lord to others and is an event the sophomores will not soon forget.
