Softball Season Ends With Heads Held High
CCA Varsity Softball finished the season as District Runner-up. The girls have put a lot of time and devotion into this season and have used it to further the CCA Softball program.
Senior Trasa Glass has played at Calvary for four years as catcher, and is proud that her team has grown not only as individual players, but as a close-knit group of friends. “It was truly a journey. I think we were transformed from a group of girls playing softball to an actual softball team.”
The girls have experienced many victories, and also fought through setbacks, but came out of the season with heads held high. “In my mind we were first,” says Glass, who has been faithful to the team in and out of practice. “Our softball team here at Calvary will truly be something to look out for.”
Expectations for Varsity Softball have increased yearly, and the success from this past season provides much hope for next year’s team.
Play Ball!
It’s that time of year to stack up on your peanuts and cracker jacks with softball season starting up again. Both Varsity and Junior Varsity Softball teams are in the middle of strenuous practices as they embrace a promising season.
JV Coach, Ronnie Lakatos, has been with the softball program for nine years since it’s introduction to Calvary athletics. Her desire this year is for the girls to “grow together as a team and grow spiritually.” The Varsity team is coached by Anthony Yates who is new to CCA this year. Coach Yates speaks on behalf of his assistant coaches Bob Schoonover and Danny Pile: “We are excited as a coaching staff and hope the girls have a good experience this season.” Both Varsity and JV are looking forward to an outstanding season to expand their softball skills and unify as a team. Their first game will be next Tuesday, February 10th at King’s Academy at 4pm. Encourage our Lady Eagles as they begin an exciting and promising season.
