Whether she is leading a girls’ Bible study, studying for AP Calculus, or organizing an NHS project, CCA senior, Alexandra Garcia, does her best to give God all the glory. Having attended Calvary for five years, Alex will say goodbye to the CCA community this spring as she heads up to Auburn University in Alabama, to study mathematics. Alex tells the Weekly, “I had always been set on going to college in Florida because of my own personality, its proximity to family, warm weather, and general familiarity, but God had a different plan in store for me.” Instead of choosing to stay within her comfort zone, she surrendered to her Maker and watched Him come through as He guided her college decision. Now, in the center of His will, Alex can truly say she has “a peace about her decision.” In regards to her major, Alex says, “I have always had a particular passion for mathematics and it has been further inspired by the passions of my teachers.  Mrs. Rebecca Darby, Mrs. Laura-Beth Hendry, and Mr. Zadoc Henry have infused a love for the subject deep into my mind to such an extent that I have no doubts about wanting to remain immersed in it for the rest of my life.”

Her AP Calculus teacher, Mr. Henry, is extremely pleased with her decision. “This is like a dream come true for me. God has clearly blessed her with a love for Him, a heart to learn math excellently, and a compassion for people. I wish she didn’t have to graduate . . . I will miss her, but am confident that she will shine brightly for our Father for many years to come.”

Not only has Alex been an exemplary student, but she has been involved in several Fine Arts productions, Varsity Volleyball, Track and Field, and is now currently working at Chick-Fil-A.
