CCA took advantage of the Super Bowl to host the annual Souper Bowl. The Wednesday before this American grand event, some CCA secondary teachers put on their chef hats and cooked their  best soups as students became judges and tasted for whose soup was the most delicious.

Math teacher Mrs. Laura Beth Hendry won for the third year in a row with her incredible “Don’t Hate Me Cuz I’m Beautiful, Chicken Soup.”  The money donated went to soup kitchens and food pantries from all over South Florida that help support those in need of food. A total of $200 was raised through the students donations, in addition to canned goods.

Junior Brittany King said, “It was so much fun to go out and try our teacher’s food; I truly enjoyed tasting many different flavors of soup.”

The event was a success and all the students enjoyed not only tasting a variety of homemade soups, but also knowing it benefited a good cause. Calvary Chapel Fort Lauderdale contributed to the event by having volunteers in the entrances after services collecting donations with soup bowls at all the church campuses. A volunteer at Calvary Chapel Plantation said: “I want to help be a part of the change and give to the needy.”
